Around 2,500 silkworms are typically killed to produce a single
pound of raw silk. Peace silk, also known as Ahimsa Silk, is a cruelty free method of manufacturing silk as it ensures that silk worms are not harmed during the production process. Silk moths are allowed to naturally pierce their cocoons upon the completion of the metamorphosis. The discarded pierced cocoons are then used to extract the yarn.
